Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 1, 2026
Web QR Scan is designed to scan QR codes and barcodes directly in your browser. This policy explains what information may be processed when you use webqrscan.com and how we protect your privacy.
Local scanning
QR code and barcode recognition runs locally in your browser. Images selected from your device, camera frames, and scan results are processed on your device and are not uploaded to our servers for decoding.
Camera permission
If you choose camera scanning, your browser will ask for camera permission. Camera access is used only to read QR codes and barcodes while the scanner is active. You can revoke camera permission at any time in your browser or device settings.
Uploaded images
If you choose image scanning, the selected image is read by your browser for local recognition. Web QR Scan does not upload the image to our servers for scanning, storage, or manual review.
Scan history and local storage
The app may store recent scan history locally in your browser to make it easier to copy or revisit recent results. This data stays on your device. You can clear it by using the app controls when available, clearing browser site data, or using private browsing mode.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand site performance, device types, page usage, and general traffic patterns. Analytics data helps us improve reliability and user experience. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar technologies according to Google’s own privacy policies.
Cookies and similar technologies
Web QR Scan may use browser storage, cookies, or similar technologies for analytics, Progressive Web App behavior, and local preferences. We do not use these technologies to upload your scanned QR code images or decoded scan contents.
Progressive Web App caching
Web QR Scan uses a service worker to cache app files so the scanner can load faster and may continue to work offline after a previous visit. Cached files are application assets, not your uploaded images or scan results.
Third-party services
We may rely on third-party services such as Google Analytics and browser-provided APIs. These services may process technical information such as device type, browser version, approximate location derived from IP address, and usage events.
Children’s privacy
Web QR Scan is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Data security
We use a privacy-first design by keeping scanning operations on your device whenever possible. No internet-based service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, but we avoid collecting scan images or decoded scan contents for normal scanner operation.
Your choices
You can disable camera permission, clear browser storage, block cookies, use private browsing mode, or stop using the site at any time. Some features may work differently if browser storage or camera access is disabled.
